Nurse Next Door Academy and LearnUpon 

Nurse Next Door Academy is hosted on LearnUpon, a learning management system. Franchise owners can manage their administration of Nurse Next Door Academy, including enrollment and management of Care Teams in Franchise Academy, Care Designer Academy and Caregiver Academy. You are also able to create and review reports on progression and completion of the courses.

Logging into Nurse Next Door Academy

Log into Care Central and click on Nurse Next Door Academy. You will be directed to  Nurse Next Door’s centralized e-Learning.  Alternatively, you can find the link here.

Completing the Nurse Next Door Academy 


Once you log in, you will see your dashboard. 


Total Number of Courses: This indicates the courses you need to complete for Nurse Next Door Academy. 


Franchise Academy = 1 course 

Caregiver Academy = 1 course 

Care Designer Academy = 14 courses (built on a Learning Path) 


What is a learning path? Set of courses built into a learning journey in chronological order. 


In the example to the right, the user needs to complete four Courses. Two will be for Franchise and Caregiver Academy. The other two are the first two courses of Care Designer Academy. In the right-hand column, you should see the courses for: Franchise Academy, Caregiver Academy and Care Designer Academy.

Start Your Course:

Click Start to begin one of the Academies. Feel free to take breaks as needed. All of your work will automatically be saved as you progress, and you will not need to start from the beginning. 

Creating Users for Caregiver Academy


Click on Dashboard in the top left hand nav. You will see a drop-down menu. Click on Users.



Once you are in the Users tab, click on Actions, then Create, as per screenshot to the right. 


To create a Caregiver user:  


  • Enter the Caregiver’s First Name, Last Name, and Nurse Next Door email address. (Note: You must use their Nurse Next Door email address.) 
  • Ensure Send invite to user is checked. The field should be green, as indicated to the right. If this field is not selected, Caregivers will not get an email to sign on
    • No password is needed as everything will be powered by SSO 
  • Under Group Member & Group Manage, select your location and the group labeled CG. 
  • Click Save in the bottom right corner.

What are groups? 

Groups are the courses you want to enroll a user into. Groups are labeled according to the following criteria: 


Franchise Academy - Will contain your franchise location name and have ‘FP’ in the title 

Care Designer Academy - Will contain your franchise location name and have ‘CD’ in the title 

Caregiver Academy - Will contain your franchise location name and have ‘FP’ in the title 



Creating Users for Care Designer Academy and Franchise Academy


Once your team members log in, you will be able to add more Academies to their account. Note: You will not be able to add Academies until they have logged on.


Follow the same steps as outlined above. Go to Users and select the user you want to add more courses to. 


Select Groups under the user's account (as per image). Add the other Groups (Academies) and hit Save.!  



Roles and Permissions 
What access do Franchise Owners and their Care Teams have?
  • Franchise owners and their operations team (e.g., Care Designers, Care Ambassadors, People Managers) will have Manager access. 
  • Managers can access and complete all three Academies. 
  • Managers can create and manage learners within the Nurse Next Door Academy.
  • Managers have the ability to view quiz results and reports on course completion. 
 What access do Caregivers have? 
  • Caregivers only have Learner permissions, and only have access to the Caregiver Academy Group.
  • Learners are not able to see any other other users and are only able to complete the course they are enrolled into.
  • Learners do not have access to reporting or data on other users. 

Managing Users
Managing Permissions for Learners and Managers 
  • If you want a Manager to be a Learner, or a Learner to be a Manager, you must submit a HelpDesk ticket. 

Disabling Users 

  • Go to Users and find the individual you want to disable.
  • Under their profile, turn the toggle so it is no longer green.
  • Note: You can only disable users. You cannot delete users. 
Viewing Users (both enabled and disabled)
  • Under Users, you can select the type of users you want to see, including: 
    • Enabled users 
    • Disabled users
    • All users
  • Hit Apply to view your selected Users. 

Reporting 


Reports enable managers to assess progress and success rates for the learning programs. From your Dashboard, open Reports.


Types of Reports you can run:


  1. Course Status
  • High level; allows you to see how users are progressing in a course 
  1. Course Module Report 
  • Demonstrates user progression in each module, including their scores 
  • Note: The Care Designer Learning Program contains 14 courses. If you want to run a report, you need to run a report on each course. You can either type the name in to search for the course, or select from the pick list. The Caregiver Academy and Franchise Academy are single courses. 
  1. TinCan Exam/Interaction
  • This report allows you to see all users' answers submitted in each academy.  
  1. Course History
  • To run a report on a particular user, do a Course History report and filter by user. This will enable  you to see how an individual user is doing.
  1. Exams (Used for Care Designer Academy)
  • For Care Designer Academy, you can run Exams. You can view the results in chart format or transcript. From the Report Type drop down menu, select Exams.
  1. Learning Paths (Care Designer Academy) 

The functionality works the same as the types of reports listed above. 

  • Choose the report (the options are listed above)
  • Add filters
  • See the result

To run a report, select:

  • Report type (listed above)
  • Select the course
  • User status 
  • Run report 
  • Download as export to view the results
